Stainless Steel

An alloy composed mainly of iron, carbon, and chromium, with chromium content at least 10.5%. This chromium reacts with oxygen to form a thin, invisible layer of chromium oxide on the surface. This layer protects the steel from rust and corrosion, making it "stainless."
